New teachers and teachers who will be teaching a new grade level for the first time are invited to sign up for a comprehensive introductory course for their selected iTaLAM curriculum.
Courses are available for iTaLAM grade levels 1–5.

The course includes 16 online meetings divided as follows:
Six meetings during summer break plus 10 synchronous meetings during the course of the school year. Detailed dates are in the tables below.
The meetings will be delivered as experiential, interactive workshops. The course is accompanied by a content rich training site with presentations and videos that allow self study and review of materials at a convenient time for you.

The course syllabus will be sent to all registered participants.
Ariot – Ariot is iTaLAM’s program for Hebrew reading acquisition. Together with Ariot, the students learn the letters and the different sounds.
Shalom – In the Shalom unit, the students learn the vocabulary that surrounds them in the classroom (Shalom BaKita) in their home and in the environment outdoors (Shalom BaBayit uBaChutz).
Holidays – The holiday unit (Chagim) accompanies the students throughout the Jewish year teaching the students the stories, commandments and customs for each holiday.
Shabbat Shalom – The Shabbat Shalom unit deals with the very special Shabbat day. Preparations in the classroom and the special things in the home, the house and synagogue on shabbat. The students learn the mitzvot, prayers, poetry, blessings for Shabbat and the blessings for Havdalah.
Parashat Hashavua – In the Parashat Hashavua unit, the students learn about the order of the parshiot (weekly Torah reading portion), weekly study of the parsha story with a focus on the important and central vocabulary in each parsha.
Tov BaKita uBaBayit – The Tov BaKita uBaBayit unit continues to guide the students through their daily life. Hebrew vocabulary and language constructs that deal with the student’s environment and daily life are expanded.
Holidays – The holiday unit (Chagim) accompanies the students throughout the Jewish year reviewing and expanding upon the stories, commandments and customs for each holiday taught in prior years.
Shabbat Sheli veShelanu – The Shabbat Sheli veShelanu unit deals with the order of the day of Shabbat. The unit opens with preparations for Shabbat in the classroom and at home. Afterwards, the unit expands on each part of the order of Shabbat through short passages, poems, blessings, songs and stories.
Parashat Hashavua – Each week in the Parashat Hashavua unit, we are reminded of the order of the parshiot and the book of chumash from which we are reading.The Parsha story focuses on an idea that connects to the home and family. The students work on an idea from the Parsha and the equivalent to their life in the classroom, at home and in the family.
BeHatzlacha – The BeHatzlacha unit enriches and expands the world of children’s Hebrew around four main topics: memory, rules for successful learning utilizing multiple intelligences that help us perform different actions successfully and a deeper acquaintance with the children in both the virtual and real class and understanding the differences between people, their strengths and weaknesses and what makes each person unique.
Holidays – The holiday unit (Chagim) accompanies the students throughout the Jewish year reviewing and expanding upon the stories, commandments and customs for each holiday taught in prior years. In iTaLAM 3 we emphasize the connection between the past and the present.
Shabbat Mevarchim – The Shabbat Mevarchim unit deals with the connections between Shabbat to the Jewish calendar and the concept of time, the link between the events of the month and the Sabbath. Students learn the concept of a Shabbat Mevarchim and prepare for the coming month at the beginning of each month with an emphasis on its connection to Shabbat.
Parashat Hashavua – Each week in the Parashat Hashavua unit, we are reminded of the order of the parshiot and the book of chumash from which we are reading. We tell the story in the Parasha and choose one message to learn from it. The message is expressed and understood through symbols, reading with understanding and a connection to our lives and preparation of a dvar torah for the family.
HaKitah HaMeuchedet – The HaKitah HaMeuchedet unit expands the circle and deals with issues of a united group and the uniqueness of the individual within the group. Values, vocabulary and language patterns around the theme of the united class are explored and students learn to resolve problems with the help of a unique model.
Holidays – The holiday unit (Chagim) accompanies the students throughout the Jewish year reviewing and expanding upon the stories, commandments and customs for each holiday taught in prior years. In iTaLAM 4 we expand the student’s knowledge and understanding of the historical events related to the holiday.
Parashat Hashavua – In each Parsha the story is reviewed, a question is asked about the parsha and different comentaries are learned about the question. Finally, we learn a saying related to what we learned from the Parsha.
HaKitah HaChoshevet – In this unit, the world of Hebrew surrounds several topics: Beginnings, Thinking Hats (Kovaei HaChashiva) – strategies for resolving problems, Fables and What I want to be when I grow up – meeting various professionals and more.
Holidays – The holiday unit (Chagim) accompanies the students throughout the Jewish year reviewing and expanding upon the stories, commandments and customs for each holiday taught in prior years. In iTaLAM 5 we continue to expand the student’s knowledge and understanding of the historical events related to the holiday.
Parashat Hashavua – Each Parasha is recalled with the help of a quiz. A question is asked and a midrash or commentary on the question is read. A short story is read on the subject, and a Dvar Torah is prepared for the family.
