Torah Teachers

Track of Study: Torah teachers

The course will teach the best teaching practices of content and skills in the Torah, and will answer questions and problems that arise from the field when teaching Torah.

 

In the course you will learn:

  • foundations of the Torah teaching methods in iTaLAM and the tools for its implementation.
  • Imparting the skill of orientation in Chumash – in the digital and workbook
  • The big ideas in parachute Bereishit, Noah, Lech-Lecha, Vayera, Chayei Sarah and Toldot.
  • Skills to learn Torah, acquisition and practice using the digital materials and the workbook.
  • Practice writing blended lesson plans using the print materials and the digital program. (Each teacher will learn the parash ht/she will be teaching in the 2021-2022 school year.

Course Expectations:

Active participation. (Preferably an open camera, participation in discussions and answering questions:.

Independent study (asynchronous) through the iTaLAM Learning platform (Moodle).

Course Topics:

Meeting 1 (Synchronous): During the session, you will:

  • Get to know the 7 rules that form the basis of iTaLAM Torah.
  • Get to know the tools at your disposal when teaching Torah.
  • Get to know how the digital system is structured in the Torah unit.

At the end of the session you will know how to: 

 

  • Define for yourself the principle that will guide the purpose of the lesson.
  • Select and prepare the appropriate tools in the learning environment, boards, cards, maps and large pictures.
  • Locate in the digital system the appropriate activities for a specific lesson.
  • Provide students with the initial skills needed to study Torah – orientation in Chumash.
  • Integrate the digital system for teaching in the classroom with the workbook.

Meeting 2 (Asynchronous): During the session, you will:

  • Get to know the big ideas in the specific parashot you will learn in class this year and how these ideas are reflected in the learning materials.
  • Recognize the important skills that are emphasized in these cases parshiot, and the tools used to acquire and internalize these skills.

Meeting 1 (Synchronous):

A synchronous meeting for questions, answers and sharing of ideas with colleagues who have experience in the field.
